OFFICIAL BOOGALOOS ANNOUNCEMENT

Hey everyone,

As I announced earlier on FaceBook, my novella Boogaloos has been accepted by a publisher. It will be released as a third in a series from Sideshow Press in October 2009.

There will be 100 signed copies. That is the limited edition and I believe there will also be a lettered edition as well. This book is designed for the collector’s market, and publishers Tom & Billie Moran believe Boogaloos will sell out fast.

The reason I did not mention the publisher earlier was because Sideshow Press has a big announcement coming up about their second release. And, I wasn't sure if I should announce mine before they made theirs. However, today they said I can let the world know who is running with Boogaloos.

This publisher is small press, which seems to me the only ones holding their own in these difficult economic times. And, not all of them are surviving, that’s for sure.

This company is one of a bygone era who nurture their authors, hopefully helping each, publisher and author, to achieve dizzying heights.

They also publish Black Ink Horror magazine which has printed a few short stories of mine. Actually, my tale ‘Prairie Santa’ is the lead in the massive Black Ink Horror #5 that will be out shortly. My short ‘Grannies’ was printed and illustrated for the cover of #3. And when ‘Relative Misery’ came out, it arrived with some fantastic pen and ink by Meghan Hakes in #2.

Someone asked me today what publishing Boogaloos means to me.

Here is how I see my career thus far:
My published short stories were like a gravel-road winding through the woods. Yesterday, I came to a four-way stop. So I took the paved country road with the novella. Now I am in search of the highway that could (or not) lead me to the crystal city.

I want to thank all those who wished me well with this venture. I also want to thank my cousin Lori for her fine eyes as a first reader. I need to thank Louise Bohmer for loving this story when it was still a short. It was written at a time when I had self-doubts and she swept them all away with her personal review.

The polished version of Boogaloos has to be with the publisher by Christmas 2008. So, excuse me while I get back to the editing process. I'll update everyone how things are proceeding as we go along.

Until next time.

Doug
